Five on Friday

Five random things that are going on in my life at the moment...

1. Work, work, work...this week has been about midnight on Thursday! What does this mean you ask?? Well, every 1st of the month I have the "glorious privilege" of billing 225 clients that attend our programs. Sounds easy you might think, but there is a cut off of when all the claims have to be entered and this week it was Thursday by midnight. This meant I had 4 days to enter in all the data (well really only 3 days since Monday I was in meetings all day). I decided I would push, push, push to get it done and I did it in 3 days!! I worked 32 hours in 3 days, but its done!! So if any of you saw my post on FB that this is what I am referring to as being a workaholic just this week!

2. Last weekend was a weird one...On Friday all day I felt fine, when I got home Jeff thought it would be cool to get Little Ceaser's Pizza for dinner. I started by having a Mike's Hard Lemonade and waited for him to bring home the "Ghetto Pizza" as he calls it. Well he called me and said the line was extremely long and we should get something else. At this point I was no longer in the mood to think of anything else and so we ate nothing. At about 7:30 I started to get the chills and feel very cold but I was really warm. My stomach was a little nauseous but I was attributing this to drinking alcohol on an empty stomach. I decided to take my temp it was 101.5! We got Jackson to bed and I took some Ibuprofen and went to bed too. I woke up at around 2:30am and had a pounding headache, so much that I thought I was going to puke. I got up and took some more Ibuprofen. Jeff had to work all day Saturday and I was just praying whatever this was would just pass since it was me and Jackson to fend for ourselves most of the day. Well Jackson was up at 6:45am and I was still miserable. At this point I had a full blown MIGRAINE...if you have experienced a migraine you know what I am talking about. I put a movie on for Jackson and crawled into bed praying he would be safe in the house without me watching him. A couple hours later and nothing had changed on my end I decided to call Jeff's parents and make an appointment at Urgent Care. Jeff's dad Jack ended up driving me in and Jeff's mom Pat stayed to watch Jackson. The weird thing was that I still had a fever (101). After all the questions and poking a prodding the Dr. decided to give me a shot of Ktortol (sp?) basically a big dose of ibuprofen and also write me a prescription for Imitrex (migraine meds). After I got the shot (in my butt) I had to stay in the room for up to 20 min. to make sure nothing happened to me, I guess? Long story shorter I took the migraine meds and it still didn't go away, my fever went even higher then finally broke at about 6:00pm that night...the migraine was finally gone by Sunday daytime and I had some relief. It really stinks having migraines.

3. Jackson, Jeff and I have been enjoying walks around the path in our neighborhood lately! Jackson has become pretty independent when walking but been really good about staying close to mom and dad! The other night just Jackson and I walked around the ponds and saw some ducks and geese, ran through the sprinklers, and watched the ants build their house on the sidewalk...it was a very entertaining evening.

4. As most of you know I am playing on our Church women's softball team. Last week we had a double header. We had to be at the field by 5:45pm and with me working in SLP it can be challenging to get home by 5:30 if I leave after 4:20pm. I got to the ball field by 6:00pm and luckily the baseball game was still going on so I didn't miss anything. What I did miss that night was the fact that I am getting older and not as agile as I used to be. I pulled both my groin muscles and both quads...it really, really sucked for the next week walking around and even getting in and out of the car. Next week calls for a really good stretch BEFORE the game!

5. So many babies are being born this Spring and Summer! Jeff and I have talked about having another baby, but as we see it our living quarters would have to change before this happens. We do not have room for another little one and I have never liked where we live. This would mean putting our house on the market again and I dread this. We have tried to sell our townhouse for over 4 years off and on I mind you but still it really stinks when reality hits you and no one wants our house. Makes you feel like your stuck and your house isn't good enough. I hate failure, so as I see it no babies in our future for at least another year or so.

Fun times with Jackson!

The last couple of months Jackson has been doing so much more helping out and getting to be a big boy. We made cookies together, he helped with spring cleaning by putting on all of my workout clothes at one time, and drinking out of my milk glass at dinner!

Making cookies with Mommy!!

Eating cookies...yummy!

Jackson decided to try on all of my clothes and walk around the house. We tried for hours to take a layer at a time off and he refused. Silly little boy.

Jackson is becoming so much more independent these days...here he is with my milk from dinner and not giving it back :)

Looking so innocent...

Good job buddy!!

Yummy milk!

We have enjoyed going to the park and walks in Bunker Hills. Jackson was such a big boy on our long walk he walked by himself most of the way and even carried his own water cup! He got a little tired at the end of the walk and sat on Daddy's shoulders...he thought he was pretty cool. More pics to come of the summer months!!

Action Jackson or should I say Accident Jackson :(

Last night I gave Jackson a bath and at the end of the bath Jackson will let the water out and play until its all gone. Well all the water was out and he began to jump up and down, I said okay its time to get out many times until the last jump...he slipped and hit the bottom of his chin on the tub and bit his tongue on both sides. It was bleeding pretty bad and later when I actually got a glance at it he had 2 huge flaps of skin hanging on either side of his tongue. He really didn't cry much more than about a minute, which I guess is good, but I felt so bad for him. He also had a little cut on the under part of his chin where he hit. All this happened and tomorrow we are getting our family pictures done at Scott and Courtney's. Nice timing, huh. He's been okay today so far but I was pretty worried about him eating since on the way to Daycare/work he was eating my muffin and cried quite a bit while eating it. Poor Jackson :(

I can remember as a child that I had lots of injuries my self...wonder if he takes after me.
Oh one more thing anybody have any suggestions for a padded bath tub??? Porcelain is not workin' so well for us!

Total Money Makeover

Okay so I didn't think I would ever do this, but I broke down and bought the Dave Ramsey book "Total Money Makeover." I got a gift card for my birthday and Jeff and I were at Barnes and Noble last weekend and had heard great things about this book so I bought it. I never thought the total money makeover would work for us since we are not good at following directions especially with money. I had really good intentions for Jeff and I to read this book together. I opened it up and even read the first 2-3 chapters aloud while lying in bed. Note to self - don't read aloud while lying in bed...one or both might fall asleep. Everyone tells me how this is so good and it really helps them out with finances, but I just don't see how it is possible for our particular family. Maybe I need to read a little more to figure out how the process really works.

On a side note Jeff and I on the drive home the night of buying the book had a great discussion about money and how each of us spend and why we spend the way we do. I think it was helpful especially since it all goes back to either before we met each other or while we were dating. If only we new the outcome of spending money we didn't have before we did it.

I am not saying I won't finish the book, but its really frustrating when I had hopes of both Jeff and I reading it together and feeling like he isn't as excited as I am about it. He did say on our drive that talking about money makes him really depressed and worried about the future. I am not a worrier so it is really hard to understand. Hopefully I will have a good update once I finish the book :) Wish me luck!!
